12 tips for leveling up in Cityville

January 19, 2011 by jorci4 4 Comments

Are you one of Cityville’s millions of fans? Here’s a simple guide to helping you get ahead in Cityville. With these tips you can quickly build up your Cityville level (and cash reserves!) and surpass your friends in the race to make the biggest, grandest, and most profitable city in the virtual world.

Cityville tip # 1: maximize your energy

You level up by performing actions or completing challenges—and you need energy to do that. So do all you can to finish your available energy on maintaining your city, like collecting rent. This may mean stalling on a neighbor’s offer to ‘help’ until you’ve emptied your energy bar and are waiting for a refill.

Cityville tip # 2: Focus on your franchises

Franchises are very profitable, providing the best payout for coins per supplied good. So do your best to build as many franchises in your neighbor’s cities, and don’t forget to supply them with goods!

Cityville tip # 3: Take advantage of the Charlie train

If you’ve run out of resources, click on the train station icon and send out the Charlie train. In five minutes it’ll come back with goods—and you didn’t even have to use any energy!

Cityville tip # 4: Ask help for crops

Your neighbors will actually be eager to help, since this gives them coins and experience. But if you can, tell them to focus on your ships and crops. They can look after them when you’re away from the computer, s o you don’t worry about withering pumpkins if you’re stuck in a meeting.

Watch the ‘expiry’ date of your crops, too. Click on the ones that are about to wither, filling up the storage as much as possible. Supply your buildings immediately after to make room for the next batch of crop

Cityville tip # 5: ‘Stalk’ your neighbors

Well, basically it means that you accept their help and follow them as they complete the tasks. Your goal is to fill up your bonus meter.

Cityville tip # 6: Prioritize certain buildings

Since energy reserves are limited, collect first from the most profitable buildings, or the ones you need particular collectibles for. When energy reserves are low, collect from community buildings (which can yield about 2 energy points).

Cityville tip # 7: Put crops where neighbors can see them

Neighbors tend to help out on areas that are found in the center of the city (it’s the easiest to find). So if you have limited storage units or farming space, place these right smack in the center so neighbors can help you tend and harvest.

Cityville tip # 8: Shift form farming to shipping as soon as possible

Shipping yields way more income than farming, so work on growing your shipping business. Cityville lets you place a maximum of 8 boats for each pier.

Cityville tip # 9: Create a ‘gold area’

Set aside one block and fill it with as many high-bonus decorations as possible (like hills). Then move a building there when you’re ready to collect. It’ll push up your profits and save on space, too since you can just move buildings around instead of decorating every area.

Cityville tip # 10: Buy the useful decorations

The decorations are nice but save your money for the ones that can really bring up your profits: bronze statue, arboretum, plaza, etc. Place the large items first and then fill in the gaps with smaller decorations like trees. If you really want huge payouts you can invest $10 to get 75 city cash to buy items like the bridge pond and bandstand, which can bring up the bonus by 128%.

Place trees and storage areas behind franchises to get an additional 2% profit per floor.

Cityille tip # 11: Maximize roads

Place franchises and community buildings in the sidelines Those buildings don’t need to be connected to be a main road. Then, use sidewalks to connect your residential or business buildings to main roads. Sidewalks take up less space, giving you more room for décor and other expansions.
