It’s so hard to wake my teen every morning. What can I do?

February 27, 2012 by mamasaurus

You can try swapping the alarm clock for a music player that has a timer, so that he wakes up to his favorite song (and a rousing playlist). Another great tip is to set clear consequences for waking up late, like setting an earlier bedtime and removing any distractions that may keep him up at night like the iPad or computer. Or you can say that if he’s not ready by a certain time he will have to get to school on his own instead of being driven, as you have your own schedule to follow. This teaches him to take responsibility for his actions instead of depending on you to get him out of bed each time.
