Great ideas for bridal shower games

April 22, 2011 by Sarah Leave a Comment

A bridal shower is a happy affair. The bride is absolutely ecstatic because she is getting married and her friends and relatives are throwing a party in her honor. If you are the bride’s maid of honor, then by tradition you should be in charge of preparing the bridal shower. There are many things you need to consider to make the party a success – a great venue, delicious food, alcohol, and of course, entertainment. Strippers, though some may find it entertaining, is really cliché and quite crass. But one thing that is always a good addition to any bridal shower are games. The combination of alcohol, lowered defenses and giddiness brought about by the event is the perfect environment for fun games.

One great game that you can incorporate into a bridal shower is a game that will test the bride’s knowledge about her groom. This needs a bit of preparation. Before the shower have a talk with the groom and ask him various questions about himself — between ten to twenty questions will do. Make the questions a good mix about his likes, dislikes and his childhood. During the shower, the guests are given a card that contains the questions. They will then guess which questions they think the bride will be able to answer, and which ones she will incorrectly answer. The bride is then asked the questions. The guest who gets the most number of correct answers wins the game.

A variation of the game above revolves around the guests’ knowledge of the bride. List down a number of questions relating to the bride — similar to the type of questions that you asked the groom in the game described above. The object of the game is to ask these questions to all of the guests and with their pens and cards they will write down their answers. The winner is the guest that gets the most correct answers. This is a fun game because it will show which guests have a lot of knowledge about the bride and who is clueless.

Looking through other people’s purses is a guilty pleasure for many people, and this is what you’ll tap with this fun game. Prepare a list of things that guests will have to look for inside their purses. For added fun, they can exchange purses so that other people will rummage through the purses. This game can be played individually or in teams. The items in the list are announced and the players just need to look in the purses to find out if the said item is inside. To make it fun, easy items are one point in value but more difficult items get bigger points, for example, condoms.

You can also ask the wedding photographer to attend the bridal shower and take pictures of the fun and games.
