Are you tired? Sleepless nights and relentless deadlines can take their toll on your health…and your face. You can look haggard and years older than you really are. While there are no substitutes for a good night’s rest, here are some ways to at least hide the effects of exhaustion. A few beauty tricks and you can look fresh and radiant even on your worst days!
Take 5 minutes to de-puff
One of the tried and tested ways to minimize eye bags is to lie down and place something cold on your eyelids. This will make it less puffy and also help rest the eyes, especially if you’ve been working at your computer the whole night. You can get cooling eye gel pads or eye pads in any beauty store, but you can also make your own. Just soak old tea bags in milk overnight, or freeze thin slices of raw potato.
Wash it off!
Submerge a washcloth in a basin of ice-cold water. Then press this against your face. The brisk cold will wake you up and help constrict blood vessels and prevent puffiness and bloating. Another great trick is to put your favorite moisturizer in the fridge.
Drink more water
Dehydration can contribute to the feeling of fatigue. So increase your water intake, especially if you’ve been drinking a lot of coffee (a diuretic).
Do an instant face massage
Aromatherapy is a great way to wake up your senses (try the invigorating scents of mint). But it also helps to use them on your skin! Just add a few drops of lavender oil or witch hazel to a small basin of water. Then, gently rub this into your face. This will boost circulation and restore some of your glow.
Use makeup
Concealer can help hide undereye circles. So you get total coverage, lean your face downwards so you can see all the shadows on your face. Another easy but foolproof tip for looking more wide awake: curl your eyelashes and put two coats of mascara. Adding a little white shimmer powder or pencil in the inner corner of your eyes can also make you look more wide-eyed and alert. Keep the rest of your makeup simple: just gloss, tinted moisturizer, a thin dusting of translucent powder and blush. After al when you’re exhausted the last thing you need to worry about is your makeup.
