Job interviewers often ask applicants the reason they left their previous job. The rule of thumb is to be as honest as possible when being interviewed. In some cases, however, you might have to sugar coat your answer. The reason for this is that no one looks kindly on a person who bashes his or her ex-employer. If you say nasty things about your ex-employer – no matter how true – this will not reflect nicely on you. Indeed, many interviewers might decline your application if you do this. Instead, find a way to give a true but nicely worded reply. For example, you can say something like you needed a change and even if it was a hard decision to make, you had to do it.
