It may actually be safer to get a tan the natural way than to get it using a sunbed. Sunbeds are designed to emit the same kind of UV radiation (UVA and UVB) as the sun and obtaining a tan artificially. In fact, some sunbeds give out greater doses of UV rays than the midday Mediterranean sun which could actually be more harmful to your skin. In some places, it is illegal for those under the age of 18 to use sunbeds because it has been found out that people with excessive exposure to UV rays before the age of 20 have a greater risk of developing melanoma later in life.
If you really want to get a tan all year round, you might want to consider safer albeit slightly messier methods (ie: spray tanning, rub-on lotions) to obtain that golden glow. You’ll be less likely to regret it later on life.
