Doors, as we all know, serve as entry ways to our homes, but its functionality does not stop there. Doors also exist to keep people out, from pesky neighbors to stray animals, all you need is to close your doors to keep them out. Of course, with burglars, sturdy security screen doors and heavy duty locks are also needed if you wish to deter them.
Just because doors are functional enough as plain as they are though, letting welcome people in and the unwanted out, it does not mean that you have to make do with a plain door. Since time immemorial, doors have been carved and painted and chosen as much for decoration as they have been for their usefulness.
The great thing about doors is that you can get just about any look for your door these days. Whether you’re into standard wooden doors, glass doors, or even iron entry doors, you’ll surely find a supplier ready to serve your needs. As long as you’ve got the budget you can have a door delivered and installed in no time at all. In fact, you can even design your own entry way or have it designed for you and have them custom-made according to design specifications.
If you already have a nice plain door at home though and don’t really want to spend a lot of money to get a new one when your door is still perfectly serviceable, here are some ways you can jazz up your entry way.
1. Paint it – Painting your door is one of the cheapest ways to update your entryway’s look. You can also opt to leave the door alone and paint just the door jambs, as well as paint the door and the jambs a contrasting color. What’s even better with this tack is that it is super easy to repaint the door in case you end up not liking the changes.
2. Change the knobs and install iron knockers – Ditch the plain looking door knob for one with a more interesting detail and get a matching (or mis-matched) knocker. It may not be evident from the curb, but visitors knocking on your door will surely notice the nice details.
3. Have ornamental screen doors installed – Ornamental iron screen doors are a great way to add character to your entryway, not only because there are plenty of styles to choose from but also because they give the benefit of added security. That’s hitting two birds with one stone. You get artwork on your entryway and upgrade your home’s security to boot! Compared to having high tech security systems installed, an iron door sure is a cheap way to protect your home from burglars.
