When hunting, a gun silencer can give you a great advantage. A silencer limits the loudness of the sound that comes out of the gun when you fire it. There are many silencer products that are being sold in gun shops and hunting stores. But wouldn’t it be great if you can actually make your own gun silencer. It’s more cost effective and you also gain bragging rights for making it yourself. Here’s how to make your own improvised gun silencer–one of the interesting and practical life tips you can get from o5.com.
Materials to make a gun silencer
First, make sure that you have all the materials needed for this project. You will need a 300 psi plastic PVC pipe, a rubber cylinder, plastic discs, a couple of steel plugs, a dispersement rod that has positioning rings, aluminum screws, screening made from aluminum, plastic discs, a drill and an assortment of bits, wooden doughnuts and lastly, an adaptor that will connect the improvised silencer to your gun or rifle.
Process for making a gun silencer
The first thing you need to do is to construct the dispersement rod and ensure that it will fit your gun. Use a drill to make a hole on each side of the rod. Make sure that the hole you make is big enough for your bullet to pass through. This means that you have to make sure beforehand that the rod you choose can actually accommodate a hole that will fit your bullet. Now get the wooden doughnuts and glue each one to each end of the rod.
You should now wrap the dispersement rod with aluminum screening. After wrapping it, put the rod inside the rubber cylinder. Make sure that the cylinder you choose is longer (but not too much) than your dispersement rod.
Now it’s time to work on the adapter that will be the part that will connect the silencer to your gun. For this, you need to use a steel washer that you’ll attach to the plastic cylinder behind the rod. Get the adapter you have and put that into the tube. You should also place stabilizer doughnuts too. Now drill a few holes on the sides of the rubber to be able to put in the screws that will help in securing the different components.
Get the PVC pipe and cut it. The length should be about twice the length of the tube that you will insert. Now fill the pipe with wooden and rubber washers. These washers will help in absorbing the impact of the bullet and also help dissipate the sound from the gun. Make sure that the end of the PVC pipe has a steel washer.
Make sure that all the components are securely attached so that it won’t get damaged when the bullet passes through.
