As decorations go, floral arrangements are a sure-fire hit in any interior space. A floral arrangement will immediately liven up any kind of space. It is also the easiest solution for bringing in nature to inside a home or office. But a floral arrangement will be most effective if it is accompanied by a vase that truly complements it. Choosing a vase is actually very important because the wrong vase won’t give the results that you look for in a floral arrangement, and this will only mean a waste of money on what could have been easily solved with a new vase.

Before you buy a vase determine what kind of flowers you plan to use on it first. Flowers that are in season are the best flowers to use in a table floral arrangement. They look more robust, you get to choose from more flower species and since they’re in season, they’re also a lot cheaper. There are some flowers that are available all year round, like roses. But there are flowers that are harder to find if it is not in season, like orchids and tulips. The kind of flowers you’ll use for your floral arrangement will determine the total height of your arrangement. For example, if you want to use long-stemmed roses then you’ll definitely need to use a taller vase.

You should also take the number of flowers you will use in your floral arrangement into account. If you plan to use a lot of flowers in your arrangement then you’ll need a vase with a wider mouth so it can accommodate all of the flowers with room to spare. An arrangement that is placed too tightly inside the vase will usually look very crowded. Also, you run the risk of cutting or breaking the stems if you try to force the flowers in a vase mouth that is too small.

Think about the style you want to use for your floral arrangement. This will determine what kind of shape you need for your vase. For example, if you want to try ikebana floral arrangements, then a vase with a geometric shape is what you’ll need. On the other hand, if you want to arrange a bunch of peonies or mums, then a small short vase will be the perfect partner to these flowers.

The location of where the floral arrangement will be placed also needs to be considered. If you want it as a table centerpiece then it needs to be short so diners can talk freely and won’t have to lean over just to see the person in front of them.
