A well developed chest is one of the crowning achievements of people who are serious about fitness. For me, a big chest makes them look good wearing shirts and they won’t even have problems showing off their bodies at the beach. The same goes for women. Work on the chest area will actually result in firmer breasts, which all women love. If you’re intent on developing your pectoral muscles you can do the following exercises.
One of the most basic exercises you can do to develop your pectoral muscles is to do pushups. This simple exercise squarely targets the chest muscles while also giving your triceps and shoulder msucles a good workout. If standard pushups are still too difficult for you, wall pushups will relieve some strain off your muscles. All you need to do is to stand in front of a wall, a little farther than your arm’s legnth away from it. Raise your arms and touch the wall with your hands. From this position, you can do the normal pushup movements. You can also do bent knee pushups.
Another good exercise is the chest press. This is probably the best chest exercise you can do to develop your chest muscles quickly. You can do chest presses either on a bench or lying on the floor, although a bench provides you with better exertion because you can extend the backward stretch by dipping your elbows farther behind you. Be aware when doing this exercise. You shouldn’t be feeling a lot of stress on your shoulder area.
Pullovers are also a great exercise for the chest muscles, especially the pectoralis minor, which are the muscles located underneath the pectoralis major. Developing the pectoralis minor will result in your pectoralis major to further push out, resulting in a bigger, puffed up chest. The ‘minor’ muscles are usually overlooked when performing exercises for the chest so doing pullovers will address that oversight.
Dumbbell flies are the pefect exercise for sculpting the chest area as it stretches the main chest muscles. When doing dumbbell flies make sure to further contract your chest muscles as you bring the dumbbells together.
After you’ve done your chest exercises remember to do a cooldown stretch to reduce the muscle pain and stiffening that happens after a workout with weights.
