A pair of high heels can go a long way. Women feel sexy wearing nice pumps and men do notice women who wear heels because it makes their legs look shapelier. But high heels can give women problems if they choose the wrong shoes. Here’s how to shop for the right high heels.
Fit
There’s a method you can use to ensure that you get the right fit for your shoe. Stand on a piece of paper wearing a pair of shoes. Draw the outline of the shoe. After this, remove your shoes and then draw the outline of your foot from within the outline of the shoe. You will notice that there are certain areas where your foot is wider than the shoe itself. The trick is to get a shoe that will also adequately fit in these wider areas. Do make sure that your foot fits well into the shoes and that your toes have enough room. Don’t believe what salespeople tell you that a tight shoe will eventually loose. The rule of thumb is – don’t buy it if it doesn’t fit you in the store.
Design
You have a lot more leeway when it comes to choosing the right design but there are certain things you have to be aware about. For example, a pointy closed heel will cause you more pain the longer you wear it. Since the shoe is inclined, your foot will just slowly slide down and put extreme pressure on your toes. Prolonged use can actually cause more serious damage to your feet. Try to get shoes made with leather because it will last longer. It may be pricier but it pays for itself because of durability and the fact that you can use it longer.
The Heel
High heels have different lengths, so get one that will give you enough height without compromising your own stability. Women who are just starting out with heels should choose those that are between one to one and half inches in height. A wider base (the part where the heel connects with the bottom of the shoe) offers more stability and less stress on the heel of the feet. You can opt for platforms or wedges if you want height but also more support.
Support
Support for the foot arch is very important when wearing high heels. Do get shoes that has padding located under the balls of the feet to help eliminate sore feet. Soft inner soles are your feet’s best friends.
