In this day and age, you hardly find marriages that stand the test of time – especially in Hollywood where short marriages (as short as 55 hours) seem to be the norm. However, it is good to know that even in Tinseltown, there are still some Hollywood Marriages that do last, and here’s 10 of them:
10. Dustin Hoffman/Lisa Gottsegen
Actor Dustin Hoffman and his lawyer wife, Lisa Gottsegen have been married since October 12, 1980. According to Dustin Hoffman, the secret to their successful marriage is to “live your own life, while sharing your space.” The couple have four children: Jacob, Rebecca, Maxwell and Lydia.
9. Meryl Streep/Don Gummer
Academy award winning actress Meryl Streep has been married to renowned sculptor Don Gummer since September 15, 1978. The couple have three daughters, two of whom have followed Meryl Streep’s footsteps and have become actors as well. According to Meryl Streep, “I think you have to have somebody as a partner who shares what you value.”
8. Jeff Bridges/Susan Geston
Jeff Bridges married his wife Susan Geston in 1977, and have been together ever since. They met while Bridges was filming Rancho Deluxe and, although Bridges found Geston interesting, the feeling wasn’t mutual. She had turned him down when he first asked her out. Jeff said in an interview that, with Geston, he “had a feeling of being at home — a soothing feeling of being where I belonged”. The couple have three children.
7. Ron Howard/Cheryl Alley
Director Ron Howard married his married his high-school sweetheart, Cheryl Alley, on June 7, 1975. When asked, in 2006, what he thought his greatest achievement was, he unequivocally said that it was preserving a rich family life despite a steady albeit demanding employment in the film and television industry. Ron and Cheryl have four children including actress Bryce Dallas.
6. Sissy Spacek/Jack Fisk
Academy Award winner Sissy Spacek married Art Director Jack Fisk in April 12, 1974. Even though she had already made a name for herself in independent cinema, Sissy made a lifestyle change and opted to stay away from the industry for a few years in order to focus her attention entirely on her family. The couple have two children and live on a horse ranch in Virginia.
5. Christopher Plummer/Elaine Taylor
Christopher Plummer is best known for his role as Captain von Trapp in the film, The Sound of Music. His lesser known role is that of devoted husband to actress Elaine Taylor, whom he married in October 2, 1970. They met on the set of the film Lock Up Your Daughters in 1969 and married a year later.
4. Julie Andrews/Blake Edwards
It seems that Captain von Trapp (Christopher Plummer) is not the only one who has a successful married life. Plummer’s on-screen partner, Julie Andrews, (who played Maria in the musical, The Sound of Music) has been married to director Blake Edwards since 1969. The couple have four children.

Martin Sheen has been married to his wife, Janet Templeton since December 23, 1961. They are both from Dayton Ohio and have four children including former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen.

Kirk Douglas has been married to his wife, Anne Buydens, for over half a century. The couple met in 1953 and, even though Douglas was engaged at that time, he fell in love with Amme and married a year later, in May 29, 1954. In 2004, the couple renewed their vows in from of 300 guests, including former first lady, Nancy Reagan.
