Defining Smoking and Vaping

Before we go into the differences between the two, let us first establish how they are defined. Smoking and vaping are both considered recreational or social activities in human society. In the most general sense, both would require a cigarette for smokers and an e-cigarette for people who are into vaping. Smoking traditionally involves tasting and inhaling smoke from the burning of tobacco leaves. While it is a common daily activity for many, it is also used for specific rituals and ceremonies.

Smoke

The main difference between smoking and vaping lies in the smoke, or the absence of it, in the case of the latter.  The burning of tobacco and other substances in traditional smoking is said to be absorbed by the lungs which is the main cause of what is believed to be a preventable disease. Add to this the recent discoveries that smoking not merely affects the lungs but also the other parts of the body as well.

Vaping seeks to do away with the harmful smoke by merely simulating the act of smoking without the harmful substance. With the use of e-cigarettes or any other vaping device, a heating element is utilized to vaporize the liquid solution. Although some still offer nicotine in controlled amounts, most make use of flavored vapor. It is primarily being used in smoking cessation efforts of many individuals who would like to give up something but are unable to do so at once.

Actual Use

Smoking makes use of cigarettes or cigars made from loose tobacco in rolled paper. Vaping on the other hand makes use of an electronic cigarette that looks like traditional cigarettes. Cigars and cigarettes are lighted up and enjoyed by tasting and inhaling the smoke. The smoke however may result to second hand smoke which affects people who are not smoking but are within the smoker’s immediate vicinity.

E-cigarettes such as those found in http://www.zemocigs.com/  have at least four components namely the LED light cover, battery, atomizer, and the cartridge which serves as the mouthpiece. Batteries are generally rechargeable which allows for repeated use except for the disposables. Users of e-cigarettes can choose the liquid flavor which they would use. These are sold in bottles or disposable cartridges. The atomizer contains the heating element that will release the flavor of the liquid.
