E-cigarettes have been getting international attention these past few years and many users agree that they are the best alternative to the usual tobacco they have used in the past. Some users have also claimed they have not turned their backs to this device ever since they tried it.
The number of people puffing the e-cigs around the globe are on the rise. Majority are former tobacco users while the others are first time users. Of those who currently use the device, 70 percent of them were on the hunt for an alternative to tobacco before discovering the electronic version.
What is an E-Cigarette?
An e-cigarette looks very similar to the tobacco type and also releases nicotine. The only difference is that the electronic version does not use tobacco and utilizes a battery instead to produce the liquid nicotine and vapor. A user then inhales the vapor much like he or she inhales the smoke from the genuine cigarette.
Not many are aware that the e-cig was actually developed in China. A pharmacist who goes by the name of Hon Lik was responsible for this innovative technology and had it patented in 2003. Lik used to smoke three packs of tobacco every day but after his father died of lung cancer, he thought of developing the electronic cigarette as an alternative.
An e-cigarette kit normally contains several sticks, a cartridge where the liquid is stored, an atomizer which does the heating, a battery and a charger. Cartridges contain different amounts of nicotine or may not contain any nicotine at all. Also, the nicotine comes in varied flavors such as tobacco, menthol, apples, cherry, caramel, coffee, chocolate and mint.
The liquid nicotine also known as smoke juice contains four ingredients. These are propylenee glycol, nicotine, vegetable glycerin and flavoring. Distilled water may be added in caes where vegetable glycerin is used.
How to Use It
Using the e-cig is the same as using a real tobacco. One gets a stick, puff it and inhale the liquid nicotine vapor produced by the device. A LED light is also created at the end of the stick when the user inhales the vapor. Longer and slower puffs may be best to savor the vapor and enjoy the feeling.
Inhaling slowly for at least two to three seconds provides a better experience than a quick one. Taking in the vapor can be done by holding it longer in your mouth or inhaling it entirely such that it goes to the lungs.
