There are several different treatments for breast cancer. The treatment depends on the patient’s specific circumstances, but here are some of the options for breast cancer treatments.
- Surgery. There are different kinds of surgery, and this varies from lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery), mastectomy, and lymph node dissection.
- Hormonal therapy. Anti-estrogen therapy which is targeted against hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer.
- Radiation therapy. Also called radiotherapy. This targets cancer cells in the breast, and is often used after surgery to take care of cancer cells.
- Chemotherapy. This could be the most commonly known treatment for breast cancer, although it is not necessarily the most used. This makes use of medicine to kill cancer cells and the surrounding cells as well. The downside is that it affects the whole body.
