Getting a tattoo means having dye inserted under your skin. The risks are basically minimal:
• Allergic reactions. These could be due to the dye used. Reactions may occur immediately or over the years.
• Infections. When you get a tattoo, your skin is basically ‘cut.’ If done in non-sterile conditions, you increase your risk of skin infections. During the healing process, you might also contract an infection if you do not take care of the tattooed area properly.
• Blood borne diseases. Hepatitis and HIV are the biggest issues, but if you get your tattoo from a reputable shop, then it shouldn’t be much of a problem. Just make sure that the equipment is sterilized.
