Tips on taking care of your employees

January 6, 2011 by Gregory 2 Comments

There are many factors that contribute to the success of any business. You’ve got the tenacity of the owner, the quality of the product or service, competitive pricing, and marketing and promotions as some of the factors that help a business succeed. One of the more crucial factors that help a business succeed is having effective employees. Any business owner who operates a business that needs more than one person to manage and operate it knows how important a good employee is in ensuring the success of a business. And it’s because of this that most companies or businesses try their best to nurture their employees and make sure that they are happy enough to want to stay and keep doing their best work for the company. Investing in employees, training them, and continually motivating them.

The best way of keeping your employees is by keeping them happy. Here are some tips on how to take care of your employees:

* Get to know your employees. It’s not enough to have a purely professional relationship with your employees, you should take the extra effort to really get to know the employees in your company. Start off with something really simple – memorizing their first names. It will make them feel important if you, as the boss, can call them by their first name. Also, listen very carefully and try to pick up on your employees’ individual backgrounds and lives. You can use the information you gather to devise ways of motivating them using their own experiences. Lastly, you shouldn’t be aloof. Try your best to mingle and coordinate with your employees regularly and show them that you accept them and you consider your whole company as one big family.

* Do not be afraid to use rewards or incentives to motivate your employees. A rewards or incentive system is a surefire way of motivating employees. Who wouldn’t want their efforts to be rewarded with incentives? You can choose to make monetary rewards for meeting certain goals or exceeding sales targets. You can also choose to give away gadgets or other items as rewards instead of money. One way to implement an incentives system is by instituting a profit sharing scheme that will apply to all of your employees. Nothing will entice an employee to stay in a company for a long time than with the promise of regular cash rewards.

* You can keep the whole work environment in the office more engaging by setting up various activities. These activities will not only make the office more fun, it will also serve as a bonding activity between you and the employees.
