It’s true: a good mattress is crucial for getting restful, healing sleep. But don’t forget to invest in a good pillow, too! Choosing the right pillow can prevent cricks in the neck, and contribute a great deal to your comfort—and after a long day at work, you certainly deserve it! Here are some things to consider when you’re looking for a good pillow.
Pillow fill
There are many tpes of pillow fills: down feathers, synthetic/polyester fibers and foam. The Rolls Royce of pillows is the goose down, but if you’re on a budget (or allergic!) look for synthetic and polyester fiber. These may not feel as good as goose down ut the good news is that they can be cleaned usinga washine mashine! If you are looking for firmer support look for pillows made of memory foam.
Thread count
The higher threat counts are more expensive but they will last longer and feel very plush. You may want to look for a standard-size 20″ by 26″ pillow with a 300 thread count. Looking for a little luxe? Spring for a 500-800 thread count.
Fluffiness
The fluffiness isn’t just more comfortable, it allows more air to pass through. This is more hygienic. You can check for a pillow’s fluffiness by folding it in half or hugging it tightly. The best ones will unfold to its original position.
