Most couples only see a fertility specialist after years of trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant. However, many wish that they had gone to see one earlier.
Consider seeing at least an oby-gynecologist after one year of trying to conceive. You may also want to schedule an appointment if you are over 30 years old, or if you or your partner have a family history of difficult pregnancies, birth complications, infertility, or genetic abnormalities. Even if you have no medical problems, it won’t hurt to err on the side of caution. Your doctor can also give you tips on how to boost your fertility, including sperm quality or quantity, or how to understand your cycles.
